Selecting the best of New York City’s arts scene
This week marks the start of NYC Pride 2019, a month long celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community. Besides the world-famous parade, held on the last Sunday of the month, there are exhibits, lectures, and parties (so many parties!) for anyone and everyone to attend. One art show we recommend is Photography After Stonewall, at Soho Photo Gallery. These images capture the rich variety of the human experience and will stay in your mind long after your visit.
In our ‘Opening This Week’ section, we spotlight Regina Silveira, a Brazilian artist who is known for her conceptual art pieces. At Alexander Gray Associates, you’ll find a selection of her projects that were never put into production. With full specs and mock-ups on view, these pieces are uber-conceptual, to say the least. You’ll find yourself wondering if the art you see is really just in your mind or is there something more to it.
