2022 Summer: Art Shows

The Super Colossal Museum Shows

Biennials, triennials, and quinquennials…the contemporary art scene of NYC is overloaded with massive museum shows this fall and next spring. Of course, you could skip them: often difficult, complicated, and unwieldy, with ideas and execution ranging from adequate to superlative, these exhibitions are trials of endurance that no visitor should have to undergo. But for those willing to try (or who prepared beforehand by reading our excellent reviews), the thrill and delight of discovering an artist you didn’t know about or seeing a fantastical display that stays in the memory for years afterward, is always a pleasure.

The Art Shows

The many, many art shows held in New York are trying to start up again – we advise you to check the websites and sign up for their newsletters, since there may be cancellations or revisions to events. Although we do recommend these shows as a quick way to pick up the new or existing trends in collecting, please remember that if you have any doubts about health/cleanliness protocols of the venue or visitors, everything important will be on their websites as well.
